We know he gleaned information about how to release them from Ugin, who he then killed. Somewhere along the line, Nicol Bolas found out about the Eldrazi. What will Sorin find when he searches for Ugin in Tarkir’s reforged timeline? Nicol Bolas Still worried about the Eldrazi, Sorin traveled to Tarkir to track down Ugin, only to find him dead. Sorin traveled with Nissa in order to ensure the Eldrazi did not leave Zendikar, but Nissa destroyed the hedron binding Ulamog, Kozilek, and Emrakul. He returning to Zendikar six thousand years later as per their agreement, but neither Ugin nor Nahiri showed up. He helped Ugin and Nahiri entrap the Eldrazi on Zendikar by draining their energy once they were bound to the plane. Sorin is a Vampire from Innistrad, a master of draining the life out of others. She built the hedron matrix that Ugin designed to catch the Eldrazi and dedicated herself to protecting Zendikar from outsiders until Ugin’s studies were complete.
A Kor native to Zendikar, Nahiri is a master of lithomancy, the magic of sculpting rocks. Nahiri fought against the Eldrazi with Sorin, watching planes die as the duo was powerless to stop them. Of course, Ugin was kill by Nicol Bolas before that work could ever be completed, although now Sarkhan’s actions have brought Ugin back to life. Wanting to study the Eldrazi’s role in this Multiversal ecosystem, Ugin enacted a plan to preserve the Eldrazi as test subjects so he could science them up without killing them. Ugin studies the Multiverse as a complete whole, looking at how planes are born, how they die, and other metaecological things like that. The first planeswalker to take an interest in the Eldrazi was Ugin, who we just met in the Khans of Tarkir block. Today I’m going to go through and talk a little bit about all the planeswalkers that have had their hand in the greater Eldrazi narrative. But this story touches more than those six characters that appeared on cards in that block.
When all was said and done, the three Eldrazi titans had escaped and all the planeswalkers on the plane ran away. It’s been five years since Rise of the Eldrazi, the last set to take place on the plane of Zendikar.
